SHC commands Sindh CM to take tough action on illegal allocation of land

KARACHI: Sindh High Court directed Sindh’s chief minister (CM Sindh) and chief secretary to take stern action against the people involved in an illegal land allocation case on Tuesday,

A high court bench is hearing a complaint about the unlawful allocation of government land to today’s developers.

The petition said that in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Scheme 33, the developer was granted 10 acres of state land. Since the cancelation of the allotment in 2014, the developer has been given a stay order from court and no person appears in the case despite court orders to the effect.

In his remarks, the bench urged Sindh’s chief minister and chief secretary to examine the matter personally. “What is happening to Sindh’s lands, we see it as a system failure,” said the bench.

The court also criticized the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over the investigation’s speed and asked the additional prosecutor to provide a clear answer as to whether or not the inquiry would be completed.

“The builder has been given stay order from the high court over the matter,” answered NAB lawyer.

“The order to remain in any other land case is taken,” the court noted.

The court ordered the NAB to submit a report against the builder regarding the completion of the investigation.
