LAHORE: On Monday, the Punjab government lodged a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the acquittal of suspects in the Sahiwal encounter case, which allegedly saw four people shot down earlier this year by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab Police.
The appeal was lodged at the Lahore High Court by additional lawyer Abdul Samad Khan.
Punjab govt claimed in a petition filed in LHC that either the case investigation went in the wrong direction or the witnesses changed their statements.
After the ATC’s decision was challenged by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday, the Punjab government approached the LHC.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting, tweeted on Friday that the prime minister also ordered the authorities to investigate the flaws and weaknesses of the case.
